THREE MONTHS TO THE FLOORING SHOW 2022
For three days of business and networking, the Harrogate Convention Center will be available to guests from September 18 through 20. This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the occasion, which honours the UK’s biggest flooring industry trade exhibition.
With less than three months before the start of The Flooring Show, exhibitors are getting ready to present brand-new and cutting-edge collections of carpets, LVT, rugs, tiles, vinyl, and much more. For the greatest exhibition on the calendar for the sector, it is a must-attend occasion that will bring together contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers.

FLOORING INFLATION LATEST
The most recent data from the ONS, which indicate a minor increase of 0.2 percent to 8.3 percent for June, reverses the temporary pause in the rise of flooring inflation that occurred in May.

CONSUMER CONFIDENCE LEVELS OUT
The historically low consumer confidence levels have finally stabilised, giving flooring sellers a glimmer of hope.
According to the GfK Consumer Confidence Index, despite the cost-of-living and inflation problem, overall consumer confidence in the UK has remained stable at a historical low of minus 41.
Although it’s still in extremely negative territory at minus 26, researchers claim that people’s confidence in their own financial status for the next 12 months increased by two points.

STOCKLISTS READER SURVEY
Retailers are prepared for the volatile market conditions to turn against their industry later this year when the pandemic’s positive effects are reversed by the cost of living problem.
In a reader survey we conducted in mid-July, 70% of respondents predicted that this year’s sales would fall short of those of 2021 by year’s end, and 63% said that they would fall short of the “average” year of 2019.
Of those, 19% anticipate a decline in sales of more than 10%, while a further 14% anticipate a decline of more than 20%.
Only 27% of retailers expect this year to be better than 2021, and our figures suggest that while they had a good first half, they are less optimistic about the second half. The period of pent-up demand, according to 52% of respondents, is over.
