Domotex celebrates a successful comeback
The Hannover event demonstrated once more that Domotex, despite having to postpone it two years in a row owing to the pandemic, remained one of the most prominent flooring trade events, albeit having a much lower attendance.
Over 700 exhibitors were present at Domotex, which ended on Sunday after drawing 20,000 visitors to its eight halls in Hannover.

Decline in flooring sales in December
After a solid showing the month before, December sales for flooring shops were disappointing, according to statistics from the Office for National Statistics.
According to the most recent information on retail sales, floorcovering sales in December were down significantly by 24% from a busy November and 3.2% from the same month a year ago.
In contrast, the furniture industry saw strong sales in December which were more than a third more than in 2021 and 20% higher than in November.

Big-ticket sales have had a bumpy journey
Major household purchases this year are expected to be “bumpy,” according to retail analysts, since consumer confidence is still low due to the high cost of living.
The GfK polling company’s monthly Major Purchase Index experienced a setback in Q4 after a little but steady increase, dropping 6 points to minus 40.
